5-1 that's more like it bhoys.

What a treat today as I caught up with an old friend today, free-flowing free-scoring Celtic rattling five past Kilmarnock.

Paul Caddis was the only debutant with our other recent signings cup-tied or watching from the sidelines.

It was Caddis that set up the first goal for Scott McDonald with Gary Caldwell heading the second early in the second half.

After that the bhoys moved up a gear, passing and moving well with Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, Scott McDonald and Giorgios Samaras getting on the scoresheet.

Celtic's Scott McDonald Australia Day video tribute

Only a week after Australia Day it's overdue to pay tribute to Scott McDonald.

With 19 goals to his name so far, including priceless strikes against Spartak Moscow and AC Milan the former Motherwell striker has more than repaid his £600,000 transfer fee.

Indeed, it would be scary to think where we would be this season without his goals as last Sunday at Falkirk again demonstrated.

But rather than ramble on for ages CLICK HERE to view this brilliant VIDEO put together in Perth WA in tribute to Scott

John Fallon looks back at the transfer window

After the frenzy of activity, at some clubs anyway, over the last few days the transfer window has closed.

Five new signings are in place at Celtic Park with Barry Robson and Ben Hutchinson joining up with Andreas Hinkel, Koki Mizuno and loan Celt Georgios Samaras.

GAME OFF Farce

Tonight's game at Motherwell was called off at 6.55, 50 minutes before kick-off.

There was no significant deterioration in the weather between the 3pm pitch inspection and the decision to call the game off.

Why wasn't the game called off at 3.00pm?

What time did the referee arrive at the ground at?

What suddenly changed at 6.55pm to call the game off?

I don't think that the pitch was ever playable but as usual 'these things happen'

The same thing will happen next year and no doubt years to come.

Dundee United 1-2 Celtic

The reserves back into action today with a great 2-1 win away to Dundee United at Station Park, Forfar.

A very very young reserve side was captained by Scott Cuthbert and got off to the best possible start when Ricky Towel opened the scoring in the first minute with a sweet volley from Paul Cahillane's cross.

United equalised through Garry Kenneth with 15 minutes left to play but two minutes from the end striker Kevin Cawley notched the winner when he lobbed the home keeper after getting in behind the home defence.

Georgios Samaras snubs Rangers for hoops.

Georgios Samaras has signed a six month loan deal with Celtic.

The 22-year-old striker signs on loan from Manchester City and is eligible for the Champions League matches with Barcelona.

After being frozen out at City by Sven Goran-Eriksson the striker is looking to win a place in the Greek squad looking to retain the European Championship in the summer.

Twenty four hours ago Samaras had been linked with a move to Rangers but has instead opted to sign for Scotland's Champions League team.

Joining Georgios today at Celtic is Koki Mizuno as the transfer window prepares to close.

Half empty... or half full

Thankfully Scott McDonald earned us the points today at Falkirk.

A poor poor team performance raised lots of concerns but the bottom line is that the match was won and that's all that really matters just now.

Wednesday's match at Motherwell will present a similar challenge but it's unlikely that we'll get the points with a similar display.

We need to up the ante, start playing well, scaring teams, scoring goals and putting the pressure on Rangers to let them know that every slip will be punished.
